The Six O’Clock Club
The Six O’Clock Club was founded by Mike Turner in January 2013 with the aim of providing a meeting place for entrepreneurs, innovators and investors to connect. Originally based in London it opened in Plymouth on the 6th June 2014 when 6 local business men and women got together at 6PM in the Ship pub on Plymouth’s historic Barbican. 6 on the 6th of the 6th at 6. It was obviously meant to be!
It’s a simple premise. Hold a meeting in a bar and invite a great bunch of people along to bump into each other, make connections and start some fires. We’ve been doing that ever since and now we regularly attract between 70 and 100 people to our monthly after work networking events and even more to our occasional breakfast and lunchtime events.
This is exactly what networking should be about. No pressure to bring referrals, no hassle over how many times you’ve attended. Just a willingness to share and learn from each other in a relaxed friendly environment.
The website is updated frequently. Where possible we feature details of attendees so that members can easily get in touch with each other between events. There’s also a Facebook group, LinkedIn group and Twitter for further opportunities to engage.
With the introduction of a weekly newsletter and blog members keep up to date with local business news and details of forthcoming events and our sponsorship programme enables members to promote their business to a wide audience across Devon and Cornwall.
